Thomas, a retired Alameda County social worker and lifelong Oakland Raider fan, passed away at his Sacramento home on November 10, 2012. He was 84. His love of football began in Sherman, TX, where he became an outstanding high school running back. After serving in the Army during World War II, he settled in the Bay Area where his love of people and football flourished. He attended several NFL Super Bowls and Pro Bowls with friends that were affectionately called the "Misfits."
Thomas is survived by his children Michael (Shelby) Greenlow of Sacramento and Gretchel Walker of Pomona; grandchildren Eve Greenlow and Grant Greenlow of Sacramento, Leon Walker of Fairbanks, Alaska and Danielle Anderson of Pomona; long time girlfriend Barbara Smith of Fremont; former wife Floydean (Lee Thrower) Greenlow of Hidden Valley Lake; sister-in-law Mattie Greenlow of Olympia, Washington;, two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John Greenlow, mother Freddie Duncan, his two brothers John Greenlow and Jesse (Hazel) Greenlow; niece Karen Greenlow and nephew Joe Greenlow.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 11:00am at Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church, 1188 12th Street, Oakland CA 95607. It is the family's wish that remembrances be made to the at www.alz.org
