Willard Kimmel

Willard Kimmel Sept. 14, 1926-Mar. 11, 2013 Resident of San Leandro Resident of San Leandro for 60 years. Ray entered into rest on the morning of March 11, 2013 in Hayward, CA. He was 86 years old, survived by his devoted wife Florence Kimmel of 34 years. Father of five children, Patti (Gary) Vasconcellos, Vickie Kintzer, Neil (Pam) Kimmel, Lorri Benson, David (Donna) Kimmel and two step-daughters Janice (Mike) Siedel and Elizabeth Hoven, also survived by the mother of his children and wife of 23 years Consuela Leyva; 12 grandchildren, Michelle, Lisa, Rachelle, Shauna, Charlotte, Matthew, Luke Kaylie, Taylor Adam, Grant and Dion, six great grandchildren Isabelle, Madelyn, Aidan, Caden, Reed and Parker, and numerous family members. Preceded in death by his father Harold Kimmel, his mother Zella Brugger, two brothers, Harold Robert (Bobby), Buryl (Bee) Brugger, and one sister, Patty Jean. Ray was a veteran of WWII and a recipient of a Bronze Star and the WWII Victory Metal. He was Honorably discharged in 1947, joined the National Guard and was deployed with is guard unit during the Korean War. After the service he worked for the Alameda Naval Air Rework Facility as an Airplane examiner and inspector and retired after 35 years. Then he concentrated on his business, "Kimmels Auto Air" along with his passion for airplanes, Ray also loved his motorcycles. He and his wife Florence were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and the Gold Wing Touring Association. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Sun., Mar. 17, 2013, 5pm, Halcyon Baptist Church, 2860 Halcyon Dr., San Leandro, CA 94577, (510) 351-3921.
