We just found out today that our boyhood friend Frank passed away last April. My brother and I grew up in the same neighborhood with Frank and played at the Cayuga Playground as kids. He was always a funny guy and never had anything but kindness in his heart. Later in life we used to see Frank and his son at the 49er games as we all had season tickets. He always had a big smile and warm embrace for us. Taken from us much too soon he will be sadly missed. Rest in peace dear friend! And our condolences to your family.
With Love & Friendship.

I just found out today that Frank is gone and I wish it were not so. My first time at Union Gent was in 1972 and Frank must not have heard my name right because he called me Charlie. After a few more trips hearing the same name I finally corrected him and we had a great laugh. Over the years I was always Charlie to him and he was my Greatest Italian friend. He cut my son's hair when he was little more than a baby and he cut it again before he moved to Chicago out of college. I saw him last year before he was heading off to PV and felt the same kinship but aged like a fine wine. We were never closest of friends but we were always more than barber and customer. We were Frank and Charlie and that's how I will remember him.

Rest in Peace my Friend,

Taylin Archini

May 6, 2009

Hey, this is Taylin, one of "Frankie's" grand babies. I just wanted to restate what the most of you have said, by saying that I love and miss him very much. He was the most down to earth, caring, RAD guy I knew, and ever will know. He wont be with us in physicality, but you can bet that he will be living in our hearts, thoughts, and memories forever. :)

To my family i know how hard it is right now for all of us to go through this. But grandpa loved us all very much! And we have so many great memories with him. From niner games, to takeing me and tay shopping, or going on adventures to san fransico with mario, or even going to austins baseball games. Grandpa showed and taught us alot. He's in a better place now even though we wish he was here with us. But will always rember going to grandpas and walking in with him sitting in his underwears and shirt watching tv (: We love you grandpa and we will never forget you, you were the best grandpa we could ever ask for!

To all Frank's Loved Ones,
I just learned of Frank's passing and I am very saddened..to me Frank can be captured in this Irish Verse...
"...so fill to me the parting glass and drink to health what ere be fall..I gently rise and softly call good night and joy be to you all..so since it fell into my lot that I should rise and you should not.. I gently rise and softly call..goodnite and joy be to you all.."
Good Nite Frank..Rest in Peace

I first met Frankie when I babysat for Sean & Scott in the late 70's. Frankie was always so kind to drive me home, even though I only lived a few blocks away. His kindness to me after my Dad died, is something I'll always remember when I visited from Australia and he treated me like an old family friend.
My deepest condolences to Scott & Sean and especially all my thoughts and love to Mary & Auntie Eldeen.
Frankie was a wonderful man and he'll be deeply missed.

I first stepped into Union Gent in January 1972..the warmth and "great vibe" from Chuck anf the "gang" made me realize how speciall this place was. Over the years, Frank was the "calm, and the Oliver to Stanley" in the greatest theater on Union Street.. Frank's smile and warm nature was like a tranquilizer without words, and an advisor when it was needed. I will miss him and he will always be present in my thoughts and heart. DMC

Frankie has been one of the most generous and kindest people I have ever known. His warm heart and smile will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. Whenever I came to CA, he & Mary made great efforts to visit with me. In the years since my mom died, he has been a truly great and supportive friend to my dad. We will all be forever gratefulfor his friendship. To Frankie's family and my dear Mary, my deepest condolences.

My greatest memory of Frank is that he always smelled so good; wearing his cologne without fail.

Whenever I saw him I would say "Hey Frank - you always smell so good" to which he would consistently reply "That's because I love the ladies to smell my neck".

Never a truer testament to his humor and good nature. I will miss him dearly.

Our friend Ken Macker introduced me to Frank when I moved to the bay area in 1974. For all those years I looked forward to getting my hair cut and my time with Frank at the Union Gent. He was a warm and wonderful friend. He could talk on most any subject and knew what he was talking about most of the time. He was proud of his Italian heratage and of his big family. He treated us all like we were his family. The last time we were togeather, his back hurt and he was worried about surgery and how long he could continue to cut hair. Worry no more old friend. Rest easy and thank you for your work and friendship.

I have was fortunate enough to have Frank as a friend and haircutter for over 35 years. The Union Gent with Frank and Chuck was always a welcome respite from whatever else was going on at the time. Frankie will be remembered for his sense of humor, wisdom on most any issue and kindness to all (except to those who took themselves too seriously). Be at peace, old pal.

I remember the first time I went to Union Gents walking from my apartment (around 1991). Frank and Debra were laughing and probably arguing. Frank always cared about everyone. I was always amazed about how many people he knew. Frank was proud and loved his family very much. A real class act. He will be missed.

We were fortunate and blessed to have met Frank when my sister, Kathy, married Bob Faenzi. He was so kind to us while we stayed in Burlingame after the wedding. Spending time with him on other trips to San Fran and Puerto Vallarta added to our admiration for such a wonderful person, full of life and endless smiles. To his family and many friends we share your sorrow in his passing, but rejoice that many lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.

Frank lived up to every definition of what it is to "be a man". He cared about his family first and foremost. He was a dedicated friend who was generous, kind and compassionate. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and was always there with a contagious smile and a hearty laugh. Frank gave everyone he touched memories to hold forever. We were blessed to know him and have him as a part of our family. We'll miss you Frank...Hopefully you can do something for the Niners...

A visit to the Union gent was always more then a haircut, it was a chance to spend some catchup on eachothers lives, Frank was someone I always looked up to and looked forward to seeing he could always put a smile on my face, I will miss you Uncle Frank.

Frank
Words can not express the loss I am feeling at this time. I will miss your visits with Aunt Mary; your laughter, kindness, and generosity. I will make sure that Chianna remembers you and your kindness forever; I know she loved you as much as we all did.
Somehow and with sadness we will continue our Christmas Eve tradition.
You will be forever in all of our hearts.
Rest in Peace
