Agamemnon Zafiratos Obituary
50 year resident of San Leandro
Agamemnon Zafiratos entered into heaven on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at age 89. He was born on January 13, 1924 in Damoulianata, Kefalonia, Greece. Agamemnon immigrated to America in 1955. He married his wife, Nafsika (Nancy) Mantalvanos also from Kefalonia, Greece in 1961.
Agamemnon was preceded in death by his loving wife Nancy of 28 years. He is survived by his son Dennis (wife Agnes), daughter Eleni Woerz (husband Danny) and five grandchildren: Danny, Angela, Thomas, Nicholas and Sophia.
He was a member of the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland, the Order of the AHEPA - Oakland Chapter #171 and the Cephalonia Society of California.
He was affectionately known as Papou Memo to his Grandchildren and all of their friends. He will truly be missed and will forever be in our hearts.
Services will be on Thursday, July 11th at the Ascension Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 4700 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland, CA. Viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the Trisagion Service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Greek Orthodox Memorial Park, 1148 El Camino Real, Colma, CA. Directly following there will be a reception "Makaria" to celebrate Agamemnon's life at the Poplar Creek Grill, 1700 Coyote Point Drive, San Mateo, CA 94401
