Agnes Carper Obituary

Agnes Carper
March 18, 1916 - July 5, 2013
Resident of Fremont
Agnes "Aggie" Carper, 97, of Fremont, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2013, in Fremont.
Aggie was born in Sacramento on March 18, 1916, daughter of Albert and Muriel Steen. She graduated from Sacramento High and continued on to Sacramento JC, where she met her husband Alvin Deville "Dee" Carper. They married on July 3, 1937 and soon after moved to Oakland. They moved to Fremont in 1955 into a home that Dee built on nights and weekends. Aggie worked as a volunteer during Washington Hospital's startup years. She was very active participating on both a golf group and a bowling team. She formed lifetime friendships with a large group of her neighbors. Over the years Aggie and Dee traveled extensively throughout the world, never once forgetting to bring souvenirs for the grandkids. Family was the most important aspect of Aggie's life. She was truly the heartbeat of the family. All family members spent time in the lounge chair next to her seeking advice for any important decision. She was an indispensable partner to the smooth running of both her daughter and son's family life, driving the grandkids to school, driving to dentist appointments, driving to sporting events, and helping with homework. Every summer she brought the family together for a week at a beautiful beach house, and then every winter she did the same with a cabin in the snow.
Aggie is survived by her daughter Marilyn Bennett; her son and daughter-in-law Scott and Kathi Carper; grandchildren Jeff and his wife Michele Bennett, Lexie and her husband Bill Vanek, Brandon Bennett, Lori and her husband Mike Vanek, and Ryan Carper; great-grandchildren Katie and Hannah Bennett, Carlie and Sydnie Vanek.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
