Resident of Castro Valley
Al Antunes passed away at his home in Castro Valley on March 4, 2013. Husband of Nina Antunes, devoted father of Alan Antunes, Denise Woodard and the late Lanette Parrish. Dear brother of Caroline Macedo and brother in law of Grace Antunes. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Al was a U.S. Army Veteran of Korean Conflict, The American Legion Post 117 of San Leandro, Lifetime member of Elks Lodge, Past Grand President of Brotherhood of St. Anthony and a past Honorary Officer of Ides #9. Born in Minho, Portugal and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Visitation will be at Santos-Robinson Mortuary 160 Estudillo Ave. San Leandro on Saturday March 9th from 2 to 5PM. A vigil service will be at the mortuary on Sunday beginning at 3pm. A procession will leave the mortuary on Monday at 10:30am going to Transfiguration Catholic Church 4000 East Castro Valley Blvd. Castro Valley for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00am. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.

Al and my father, Peter (Pedro Lopes Pimentel; 10/21/32~4/20/93) were childhood friends who, on a coin toss between Florida and California, landed in the Bay Area. I remember visiting this family as a child in the very early 60s and have several notations from my mother's diaries of that time.
I only wish I could have somehow reconnected
with my father's friend somehow..
