Arthur F. Gonzalez, 56 (Arturo) passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on July 27th 2013. He died much too soon from the terrible disease of ALS. He was born May 11th, 1957 in Berkeley Ca. to the late Ruben and Salud Gonzalez. Art grew up in Oakland and graduated from St. Joseph's School in Alameda in 1975. Art worked for Westco products for over 20 years. More recently he worked for Bio-Rad Laboratories for over 10 years. Art loved to cook. His family, friends and co-workers loved his barbecue, his special salsa, and guacamole. He won an award at the Zucchini Festival for his delicious Zucchini chips. He also enjoyed gardening, coaching his kid's sports teams, especially soccer, golf and was an avid A's fan. He is survived by his wife Ivy, daughter Michele and sons Robert and Daniel, his brothers Ruben and Vic Gonzalez and sisters Rita Tracy and Berta Baxley; as well as many close in-laws; nieces and nephews; extended family, and long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Raul and Javier Gonzalez.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, Aug. 5th from 5:00 - 8:30 pm with a 7:00pm Vigil at Holy Angels Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Aug. 6th at 10:30 am @ St. Joachim's Church, 21250 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward.
