Donald West Gillis, a Fremont resident for 41 years, passed away on March 14, 2013 at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of Camille Gillis, loving father of Ann Clark and husband David of Monterey, Jean Karavidas of Pleasant Hill, Steven Gillis of Martinez, and Peter Gillis and wife Mary of Lafayette. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Jacqueline, Dominique, and West.
He was a lyricist, composer, and producer and was known for creating spiritual music. He loved his family and was an avid bridge player.
Donald was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, SIRS, St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Joseph's choir, St. Joseph's Mens Club, and was a Mission San Jose docent.
Family and friends are invited to a 10:00 AM Memorial Mass on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at St. Joseph's Church, 43148 Mission Blvd., Fremont, CA.

I met Don a year ago and he was a very quiet, personable and intellectual man. I am sorry he has left us so soon. I was just geting to know him and will miss him at our meetings. I know he will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He certainly touched mine.
Don, you are with the Father and may you rest in Peace.
