Edward Chan Obituary

Resident of Castro Valley
Dr. Edward Chan passed away on March 20, 2013. He is survived by his wife Loma Chan; children Edward (Rebecca) Chan, David Chan, Timothy Chan, and Cynthia Chan; sister Florence (Stephen) Lau; grandchildren Rachel Chan and Sarah Chan; and niece Tiffany Lau.
Dr. Chan graduated from Xavier University and the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed residencies in both General and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Chan practiced medicine in the San Francisco Bay Area for 38 years.
Dr. Chan was dedicated to his patients and loved his family very much.
Family and friends may visit from 4-8PM on Thursday, March 28 and are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 11AM on Friday, March 29, both at Jess C. Spencer Mortuary, 21228 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, 510-581-9133.

Dr Chan came to mind today after so many years. I have just learned of his passing. I worked with Dr. Chan at St. Rose Hospital 40 years ago and remember his genuine kindness and easy laughter. He was always a favorite of the nurses. Rest in Peace.

We met Dr. Chan when he performed surgery on our son, 35 years ago. I, my husband, and daughter also had surgeries done by Dr. Chan. He was kind, compassionate, and extremely dedicated. Our condolences to his family, friends, and associates. R.I.P. Dr. Chan

I am so grateful to have worked with Dr.Chan @ Bay Valley Medical Group as a Medical Assistant. He was a kind and thoughful man. He loved his patients and he was a great surgeon.I am now a LVN, thanks to Dr.Chan he encouraged to go to nursing school. He thought me so much, especially about wound care. He will be great missed!!! RIP Dr.Chan!!!
