Resident of Pleasanton
Widow of Lawrence W. Yip, devoted mother of Sabrina Hougen and Audrey Gould, mother in-law of Will Hougen, Michael Gould and Leopoldo Montero, daughter in-law to Harriet Gee, preceded in death by brothers, Sam, Samuel, and Hinman Owyang, survived by sister Winifred Kawashima, sister-in-law to Wilbert and Ruth Yip, Howard and Loretta Fong, Mori and Christine Moriuchi, Alvin and Faye Yee, proud grandmother of Christopher Montero and Tait Hougen, and aunt to many nieces and nephews passed away unexpectedly in Pleasanton, California at the age of 71.
Eleanor was a native of California, raised in the city of Oakland by William and Bow Jun (Susie) Owyang. She graduated from Oakland Technical High School and attended San Francisco City College. She lived in Union City, California for 44 years and worked at many schools within the New Haven Unified School District, primarily at Alvarado Elementary for over 20 years. After her retirement, she continued to work with children at various day cares including the YMCA and Adventure Time in Fremont, California. Besides working with children, she enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, gardening, and spending time with her grandsons. Her last place of residence was in Pleasanton, California.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, April 12th, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Albert Brown Mortuary on 3476 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611.
