Eva Hauser Obituary

Eva Hauser
Resident of Castro Valley
Eva Renate Hauser, 85, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2013 at her home in Castro Valley. Born in Kassel, Germany in 1927, her early years were happy ones. Increasing hostilities and danger engendered by Hitler's rise to power in Germany made the Jewish family's life in Kassel unsafe. In 1937 the Weisner family (father Max, mother Olga and brother Gilbert) and other extended family members were lucky enough to be able to leave for America. Although Eva knew no English she learned quickly and enjoyed her education, culminating in graduation from UC Berkeley in 1949. After marriage to Stanley Blackfield, children Susan and Bruce were born and the family relocated to Hayward. Eva worked as an elementary school teacher for over 25 years in the San Leandro School District where she was able to incorporate her love of music and skill at the piano into the classroom. After her divorce Eva met Vic Hauser at a dance in 1975 and they married in 1978. Eva and Vic travelled extensively, enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends and attending local theater.

Eva will be much missed by her devoted husband of 35 years, Vic, her son Bruce Blackfield, his wife Lanny, her grandchildren Kimberly and Michael Blackfield and Rebecca and Danielle Crawford, as well as her nephews Tom, Stan and Ken Weisner and their wives Susan, Connie and Kit and their children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Susan and her son-in-law Al, her brother Gilbert and his wife Ruth. Eva will be missed by Vic's children, John,Marcus,Debbie and Steve and by her many friends and colleagues. Eva will be remembered for her warmth and compassion, her keen intelligence and her sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 8 at 10:30AM at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA.
