Jeanne Ivey Obituary

Jeanne Virginia Swanson Ivey 1917 - 2013 Former Alameda Resident Jeanne Swanson Ivey passed away suddenly on March 3, 2013 after 95 wonderful years of life. Jeanne was born and raised in Alameda, California, graduated from Alameda High School and Armstrong Business College. She worked as a secretary for the American Can Co. in San Francisco and for Kaiser Construction Co. in Oakland. She held various leadership positions in the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star and was a founding member of the Zircon Club in Alameda. She was also a member of the Bellevue Club, Oakland. She was active in PTA, Girl Scouts of America, and the International Order of Job's Daughters and lovingly supported her granddaughter in 4-H. She loved animals, trips to Tahoe, Hawaiian dancing, music, and dancing with her husband. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Carlton Henry Ivey. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Jeanne Doberenz, son-in-law Kirk Eric Doberenz, and granddaughter Erica Jeanne Doberenz, nieces Marylin J. Villa, Karen A. Strachan, Mary Margaret Cunningham, Bonnie J. Ivey, Patricia K. Henderson and nephews Carl A. Bechtle, Ralph O. Ivey. Jeanne lived in Alameda for 88 years and was a resident of the Masonic Home for Adults in Union City for 7 years. She was a beautiful woman inside and out.... we will truly miss her.
