Resident of Fremont
Peacefully passed away at home on March 31, 2013 in Fremont, CA at the age of 58. Devoted husband of 37 years to Ida Almeida. Beloved father to Daniel Almeida, and Kevin Almeida. Cherished brother of Tilda Santos and her husband Carlos. Loving son to Joe and Maria Almeida. Also survived by numerous other family and friends.
Born June 12, 1954 in Terceira Islands, Azores to Joe and Maria Almeida. The family came to the United States in 1966, when Joe was 11 years old. He attended school in Newark and graduated from Newark High School in 1972. In 1987 he opened Almeida's Repair Shop where you could always find him until his illness didn't allow him. Joe was a hardworking man, always helping people with their car problems whenever they called, never saying, "No I can't help you." Joe loved to spontaneously get up on a Sunday morning and say let's go for a drive, where he and Ida would get in his orange corvette and drive to the beach. He loved the beach and going on cruises. Every year he would vacation in Mexico. He loved to watch football especially his favorite team the 49ers. He will be greatly missed and remembered by family and the many friends that will never forget his good and caring nature.
A Vigil will be held on Monday, April 8, 6pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 9, 9am at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.

Joe was the nicest mechanic ever. He always fixed my car when i was broke and let me pay on the 1ST of the month. he put my new transmission in for $275.He was always nice & chipper. I had no idea he was sick & very saddened to hear this news.You will be missed
