Katherine Reichmuth Obituary

Katherine "Katie" Reichmuth Nov. 20, 1919-Aug. 17, 2012 Resident of Newark Entered into rest on August 17, 2012 in Newark at the age of 92. Predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Joseph Reichmuth. Survived by her nephew David Reichmuth (Margrith) of Newark; her nieces Mary Ann Russo (Joe) of Aptos, and Cathy Quinn (Dan) of Stockton; and many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Born November 20, 1919 in San Francisco, Katie was the pianist for the Joe Reichmuth Swiss Orchestra, the house band for Swiss Park for many years. She played throughout the West Coast as well. She was the honorary secretary of the Aelpler Gruppe Swiss Club for 50+ years of service. She enjoyed bingo and casino trips with the Newark Senior Center. She volunteered for the Newark Police Dept. in her younger years to help transport female prisoners to Santa Rita. Her hobbies included reading, needlepoint, traveling and gardening. She was retired from Weibel Winery. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, from 9-10:30am at Fremont Chapel of the Roses, 1940 Peralta Blvd., Fremont. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 5788 Thornton Ave., Newark. Burial will follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery in Pleasanton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Aelpler Gruppe Memorial Fund, 5911 Mowry Ave., Newark, CA 94560.
