Sandra Amos Obituary

Sandra Vanieta Amos
July 10,938-Mar. 20,2013
Resident of Fremont
Sandy V. Amos passed away, March 20th at the age of 74, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born July 10, 1938 in Anniston, AL. She attended The Holy Name of Jesus which started her on her long career as an R.N.. In 1975, Sandy moved to Fremont, CA, where she began a path of 38 years with the health care system. She was employed with the Washington Health Care hospital. Sandy worked in many departments from E.R. to teaching and training of many nurses. She also served as liaison for the Nurses Union for several years. October 15, 2011, the "Sandy Amos R.N. Infusion Center" was dedicated in her honor and was attended by many dignitaries and her peers. Today many cancer patients are able to receive treatments in a more relaxed atmosphere. Sandy loved her career, traveling and her beloved pets. She is survived by a brother, John Hank Amos and wife, Gloria, of Brandon, MS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Still Amos and her father, Slay Jack Amos. Also surviving is a niece, Kelly and nephew, Kevin and many cousins.
A private graveside service will be held in Birmingham, AL. at Elwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate in honor of Sandy to the Cancer Society.
