LONGTIME RESIDENT OF ALAMEDA
Verla Newton passed away in Alameda July 2, 2013 at the age of 91. Verla was born in Pelsor, Arkansas to the late Clifton Nutt and Maude Payne Nutt. She is a longtime resident of Alameda, Survived by her relatives Joseph A Williams and Virginia Schechter, and her longtime friend Dan Waters. The late Cleophas Alva Newton. Services will be held Tuesday 11.00 am July 16, 2013 in the New Beginnings Chapel, of Alameda Funeral & Cremation Services, 1415 Oak Street, Alameda. Rev. Roger Bauer, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland. For further information please call: Harry W. Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745).

I think of you so often Auntie Verla. When I see hydrangeas, I think of you. When I smell chocolate chip cookes baking, I think of you. When I see elephants, I think of you. When I think of fun childhood memories, I think of the times that I spent with you. I love you and miss you Auntie Verla. I know we held a special place in each others hearts. You will always be in my heart. ❤

Auntie Verla, Thank you for touching my life and blessing my life with your beauty and grace and love. I have such incredible memories of growing up and spending time at your home... we baked cookies, painted our nails together, took bus trips to South Shore, and talked and talked! Ginger and I seemed to be able to talk Linda into letting us stay the night with you when we would visit... mostly because it meant she could see you again the next day. I love you and miss you. You are now in perfect peace and with some special peopke that you love - Maude, Cleo, Linda and Joe. Oh the time you must be having in Paradise! Save a place for me Auntie Verla! > <
