WYONA FERNANDEZ

Wyona E. Fernandez Dec. 4, 1935 - July 21, 2013 Resident of Newark Wyona, 77, passed away at Kaiser Hospital on Sunday July, 21, 2013 with her family at her side. Wyona was born in Oklahoma on Dec. 4, 1935. She was the oldest daughter to Melvin & Ethel Shaeffer. She was married for 47 years to Donald Fernandez until his passing in 2002. She retired from Fremont Unified School District as a bus driver in 1984. In 1998, when Don retired, they moved to the country as she called it Valley Springs, CA, where they made many trips to Jackson Ranchera. She loved to gamble! After her husband passed away (2002), she moved back to Newark but still frequented the casino with her gambling partner, Audrey. She is survived by her daughter, Christine and son-in-law, Michael Pereira of Newark. Grandchildren, Daniel (JR) Fernandez of Fremont, Tine Fernandez of San Jose, Julie Racey of Fremont, Nick & Angela Nillo of Newark, Chad and Danica Nillo of Quantico, VA. Ten great granchildren and eleventh great grandchild due in December. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald (2002), son Daniel (1997), son Michael (2002) and granddaughter, Jody (2011) Funeral services at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. Visitation on Thursday, July 25, at Reflection Chapel, 4:30pm for family; 5:00pm-9:00pm for public. Funeral service on Friday, July 26, at 10:00am at Reflection Chapel followed by burial at 12:00pm.
