Alison Brooke (Ali) Maheu Obituary
Alison (Ali) Brooke Maheu May 31, 1985 - Dec. 23, 2012 Resident of Oakland Alison (Ali) Brooke Maheu passed on Dec. 23, 2012 at the age of 27 due to a pedestrian accident on Dec. 17, 2012 in Oakland, CA. Ali grew up on the rural north coast of California where she was home schooled, excelling in dressage. A "Living History" overnight stay on the tall ship CA Thayer at Hyde St. Pier began Ali's 8 years of weekly volunteer service. Ali graduated from Santa Rosa Jr. College Phi Theta Kappa and gave the valedictory speech. She graduated from Mills College with top honors Phi Beta Kappa and received the Mill's Biology Prize. She eschewed her opportunity to do graduate work to return to her beloved historic ships, assuming the position of Rigger at the SF Maritime National Historical Park. She is survived by her beloved girlhood sweetheart and husband, Luc Maheu, her parents Jerrold and Ann Beckett Immel, brother, Eric Wasserman, her mid-west family, mentors of many years Chris Jannini and Amy Hosa, friends, and fellow lovers of the sea. She lived richly and is thoroughly loved. Harris Funeral Home (510) 525-1331
