Alwin (Al) R. Garaventa

Born in California to the late Henry Garaventa and Mabel Tribble, Al passed away peacefully in Alameda, CA on October 26, 2013.
Preceded in death by his sister Valeta Albright, Al was a loving father to his twin daughters Lisa Quisito and Lori (Mark) Hart, uncle to twin nieces Sharon Albright and Karen Red Elk, grandfather to Tiffany (Jason) Santos and great-grandfather to 6-year old Jason. He was also a devoted partner to long time girlfriend Vera Martin.
Al was a lifelong Bay Area resident and was well known in the Montclair area of Oakland, sometimes being called the "Mayor of Montclair." After a short time in the US Navy, he had a career as an accountant before semi-retiring and putting his energy into the things he loves the most, including his passion for Real Estate.
Al took pleasure in spending time with Vera and his loved ones, going to church and enjoying meals out. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Family and friends may visit between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon on Friday, November 1, 2013 and are invited to attend the funeral service also on November 1, 2013 at 12:00 noon, all at Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda, CA 94501.
