Barbara Lee Lindsey Obituary
Barbara Lee Lindsey Feb 4, 1947 - Nov 16, 2013 Resident of San Leandro Barbara passed away at her family home in San Leandro, where she lived her entire life. She fought a long hard battle with Colon Cancer, and is finally at peace. She was the second of three girls born to Walter and Adrienne Lindsey. Family was the most important thing in Barb's life. She traveled and vacationed with her sister's and their families whenever she could. She loved camping and RVing across the country, as well as taking several trips across the ocean. She enjoyed her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children, attending every activity and special event that they had. Barb's interest in family went back far beyond her grandparents and Aunts and Uncles, the family she so often spoke of with such fond memories. She worked for many years gathering pictures and family history from distant second and third cousins, some of whom she never got to meet in person. She loved adding all the "new" family members to the many binders of her Family Tree. Growing up, Barb was active in Campfire Girls where she earned her Torch Bearer, played the violin with her school orchestra, honor orchestra and Young America, and was a past Honored Queen of Job's Daughters, Bethel 175 in San Leandro. Barbara graduated from Cal State Hayward, now Cal State East Bay in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, and Social Science. She worked with the Head Start program in Hayward, and spent several years as a substitute teacher in the San Leandro Unified School District. She later worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at Music Unlimited in San Leandro, and a Customer Service Representative for Diversified Collection Services in San Leandro and Livermore. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving parents, Walter Lee Lindsey and Adrienne Marie Auer Lindsey. She is survived by her sisters; Jeanette (Larry) Moyers, and Sue (Richard) Carson, her nieces and nephews; Scott (Rene) Moyers, Jennifer Moyers, Amy (Kurtis) Keala, LeeAnne (Paul) Jones, Erin Carson, Lindsey (Brett) Parker, and Bryan (April) Carson, and her great nieces and Nephews; McKenna Brown, Riley Brown, Aidan Brown, Marieke Moyers, Ashley Keala, Allyson Keala, Tyler Keala and Baby Jones (whom she was so excited to welcome to her family)! Internment at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward on November 30th was private at Barb's request.
