His courageous battle with pancreatic cancer ended peacefully with his family at his side .
He was born in Randall Village, Morrison County, Minnesota to Erna E. Hall and Wesley O. Burt. At a young age he moved to California with his four brothers. He graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland in 1955. He served two years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was married to Judy Ann Kjono on August 22, 2000 in Gold Point Ghost Town, Nevada. Clay retired from the San Francisco Chronicle and National Fabtronics. He was an avid bowler, he enjoyed playing dice with his friends at the Moose Lodge in Castro Valley. He was a coin collector, loved reading, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and gambling. He is survived by his children, Gary, Jill, and Jasson Burt, his step children, Robert Angel and Sara Kjono, and nieces and nephews.
At his request no services were held. A day of celebration to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date. Contributions may be made in his honor to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or to the ASPCA.
