Fannie Mae Knowles-Browner, 89, passed away on April 12, 2013. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and neighbor. Fannie was born in Idabel, Oklahoma. She moved from Oklahoma to California, and married Abe Knowles. They had four children: Abe Knowles Jr., James Knowles, Wilbert Knowles (preceded in death) and Velma Knowles-Scalzitti.
Fannie was a long time resident of Russell City who began her career as a Cook at Levine Hospital and rose through the ranks and retired over 30 years later as a Dietician. Left to mourn are her children and step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.
Donations in memory of Fannie Mae Knowles-Browner can be made to the First Baptist Church of Russell City, 22979 Maud Ave, Hayward to assist in the creation of a culinary arts scholarship fund in her honor. Services will be held at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel, 1140 B St, Hayward on Friday, April 19, 2013. The viewing is from 8:30AM-10:30AM and the service begins at 11:00AM.
