Glen Schimelpfenig Obituary

Glen Herbert Schimelpfenig Aug. 7, 1929 - Feb. 3, 2014 Former resident of El Cerrito and Alameda Our beloved Dad and "Opa" passed away peacefully at home to join his wife Mary (Trebiatowski) and sister Ruth in Heaven while surrounded by his family and dear pets. Born to Herbert and Luvina (Bauernfeind) Schimelpfenig in Faribault Minnesota, and raised there, he graduated from Faribault High School in 1947. They relocated to California in 1964 where he worked in the commercial/industrial insulation business finally retiring as vice president of Plant Insulation Co. in Emeryville. Glen visited all 50 U.S. states, and all the Western European countries, and had so many entertaining stories about his travels. During retirement, Glen was Regional Director of Sons in Retirement, Treasurer of East Bay Chapter 10 Reserve Officers Association and President of Cardinal Point Retirement Community Resident Council. He was fascinated with family history and wrote a detailed account of the Schimelpfenig family going back 200 years. Jr and Glenda

March 5, 2014

A few days before Opa left us, we had a talk, he said, "I'm ready. I'm happy to go. I'm excited to see Jesus". I replied, "No. You can't die yet. You have to see your other children! And he did stay for a while despite three disappearing acts so Jane, Rachel, Julie and Raymond could say their goodbye to him. He loved all his children. I will always remember the look in his eyes every morning when he sees his son. He was so pleased with. When that wonderful day came, he left with a big smile on his face. Two weeks later, I had a dream. There was a big building, full of lights, bright lights, it's beautiful! There were girls wearing pastel color clothing and they were dancing in a ballet like performance. Opa said, See, there's non stop entertainment here". Don't be sad". We miss you but we rejoice to know you are in heaven with Jesus.
