Jim "Butch" Monroe July 31, 1943 ~ May 13, 2010 Resident of El Sobrante Jim passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Walnut Creek, CA with loved ones by his side, after an extremely long and courageous battle with Parkinsons. Born July 31, 1943 in Oakland, CA, he was 66 years old. He was raised in Berkeley, CA. Jim married the love of his life, Donna, in 1961. They moved to El Sobrante in 1963. He retired from Teamster Local #70 after 33 years. Jim loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing in the S.F. Bay and coastal waters, scuba diving, duck hunting club, and racing a motorcycle. He liked to restore his old Chrysler 300s and could fix any engine. He always had fun traveling to the Carribean, Hawaii, or Tahoe. He was always working with his hands, whether it be a fishing pole, boat, wrench, steering wheel, paint brush, or scuba gear, he was known as "Tommy Tinker." Most of all he always loved the holiday gatherings with family. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna; daughters Shauna Woodard and Beverly Monroe; his loving pesky sister Bonnie Monroe; grandchildren: Kyle, Stephanie, Cindy, Stacy, and Travis; sister-in-law DeAnn Everoski; brothers-in-law Ron Everoski, Bob Inserra, and Joe Rodriques; Uncle Butch to many, and numerous cousins; best friends Keith Kinyon and pals. Jim was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy, father James, and sister Connie Rodriques. In lieu of flowers, donations to: Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation- Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, NY, NY 10008-0780. Services will be held at Sunset View, 101 Colusa Ave., El Cerrito on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 1:00pm.
