Joanne Frances Stefanska

Joanne Frances Stefanska entered peacefully into rest in Alameda on May 22, 2013. She was 74 years old.
Born to Peter and Edna Stefanski on July 28, 1938, Joanne was a graduate of University of Minnesota. She had majored in librarian science and pursued her career as a librarian with the University of Berkeley. Joanne later worked within the University system assisting with student loans prior to her retirement. She was an avid reader who loved spending time in libraries, and also enjoyed traveling and doing research for the adventures she planned. Joanne was treasured by all who knew her for fun sense of humor and quick smile. She will be deeply missed.
Joanne is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law, Sasha Alexandra and Jason Maltsky of Alameda, sisters, Nila Haefner and RoseMary Lingle and brother, Warren Stefanski, all of Minnesota; many loving nieces, nephews and cherished extended family.
Visitation for Joanne will be 11 am to noon on Wednesday at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Funeral services will begin at noon. Joanne will be laid to rest at a private committal on Thursday at Chapel of the Memories Cemetery, 4401 Howe St., Oakland.
