Larry was born in Oakland and resided in the 94610 zip-code nearly all of his life. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in Alameda and attended UC Berkeley where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Larry worked in the mailroom at the Oakland Tribune during college, and embarked on his career in advertising there. Later, he was an Account Executive for Sawyer-Ferguson-Walker, representing newspaper accounts. He joined the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner in 1970 and worked there in national advertising until his retirement.
Larry was very passionate about thoroughbred horses and racing, both as a horse owner and a handicapper. He was a regular at Northern California racetracks, most recently, Golden Gate Fields.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Patricia and Jack Oliveri and brother in law, Robert Jackson. He is survived by his sister, Jacqueline Jackson (Harvey Zuckerman), Niece, Shannon Jackson (Michael Korcuska) Nephew, Bailey Jackson as well as Shannon and Michael's children, Jack and Daphne Korcuska.
At Larry's request, there will be no funeral, but the family will host a reception in his memory.
