Michiko Aoki Obituary
Michiko Aoki
Jan. 5, 1923 - Mar. 10, 2014
Resident of Hayward, CA
Michiko Aoki passed away peacefully on March 10, 2014. She was 91 years old, born Michiko Katayama in Ogden, Utah in1923, the third of three children. She graduated from East High School and Westminster College in Salt Lake City. She married Isamu (Sam) Aoki in 1945, and became a full time house wife and mother. In death, she was preceded by husband, Isamu, daughter Joanne, and brothers Taro and Jiro. She is survived by three children (spouses), Timothy (Jan), Christopher (Kathy), and Mary Ann, and step-grand daughter Christine Ando (Jan's daughter) and her husband Eiji, and their children, Johnny and Mae Ando.
Michiko enjoyed the simple, homey parts of life in all the places she lived; Utah, Wyoming, and several cities in the San Francisco Bay Area. She and Sam finally settled in Hayward, California and lived there for almost 40 years. In Hayward, she had a lovely garden with roses, raspberries, and rhododendrons. She loved tending the roses and making jam from the raspberries to give to friends and family. She cooked wonderful meals for family birthday and holiday gatherings and always enjoyed visits with friends and neighbors. She loved dogs; she almost always kept a much pampered dog with whom she shared much of her time.
She will be deeply missed by friends and family. A memorial for her will be held at her home in Hayward at a future date.
