Marie Lillie Rizzo passed away peacefully on Sunday after a valiant battle with cancer. Her loved ones were by her side. She touched many lives with her sweet spirit and positive outlook on life.
Marie was born in Stroud, Oklahoma, the only child of Herman and Lula Long. Her parents migrated to and lived in Hotchkiss, Colorado during her youth. During World War II, her parents moved to Oakland, California. Marie soon followed her parents to Oakland. She met her future husband, Louis Rizzo, at a Moose Lodge dance. Marie and Louie married on April 22, 1951 and purchased a home in Hayward. They raised their children in this home. She continued to live in the same Hayward residence until her recent passing.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis. They were married for forty-four years. She is survived by her children, Larry Bruner (Sachiko), Sharon Taylor (Robert) and Sheila Rizzo (Bruce Brunell, fiance). She has one grandchild, Randy Stubblefield.
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:00am at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA (510) 471-3363. Immediate family burial to follow.
