John was born on March 28, 1932 in Smethwick, England. He passed away peacefully on April 30, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Smith Castle, daughters Christina Reich and Corinna Castle, and grandchildren Sarah, Ian, Maxwell, Alex, and Leilah. He joins in heaven his son, Stevie and his granddaughter, Raquel.
John received his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Birmingham University in 1952 and immigrated to the United States in 1954. He was chief engineer for many nationally renowned buildings, with projects including US Military Bases, the World Trade Center North Tower, Century Plaza Hotel, Disneyworld and the BART Transbay Tube. He worked for Minoru Yamasaki and Associates, Aluminum Company of America, Walt Disney Enterprises, Kaiser Engineers, and Keller & Gannon.
John enjoyed the art of bonsai, listening to Big Band music, drawing and painting, traveling in England, fine wine and cigars. A memorial service will be held at Christ the Lord Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 10th at 4 pm, 592 Tennent Avenue, Pinole, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
