Grace C. Gonzales Obituary
Grace C. Gonzales
Oct. 31, 1961 – July 16, 2014
Resident of Fremont, CA
A woman loved for her caring, fun and generous nature, Grace Cruz Gonzales passed away on the afternoon of July 16, 2014, at the age of 52. She was a wonderful and dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, partner, and friend.
Grace was enthusiastic about her life and shared that passion with her family and her large group of friends. You could rely on her to send you a card or call you for your celebrations or difficult times. She would find the perfect gift months ahead of your birthday or Christmas with her thoughtfulness and sharp eye for detail. Shopping was fun with her because she always found beautiful and clever items. She loved cooking and good food and didn't hesitate to share a new recipe or dish. Music and travel excited her and the idea of going to a good concert or a new place would energize her for weeks. But most of all, she loved to laugh, and was quick to share a good joke or absurd story.
She was not intimidated by difficult things and would charge ahead with her intelligence and drive. This would serve her well in her struggle with a rare form of cancer that struck in late 2007. Even through chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, she followed her passions and planned her future.
Grace was a resident of Fremont, CA for over 40 years and 1979 graduate of American High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Saint Mary's College in Moraga in 1983. She met some of her closest friends here and recently enjoyed an alumni reunion that revived her "Go Gaels!" spirit. She had a busy career in retail management with over 10 years at Crate & Barrel.
She is survived by her loving mother, Aurea C. Gonzales; her brother Perry C. Gonzales and his wife Audrey, her sister Julie Ann G. Mack and husband Gorden; her nephews and nieces Jason, Zachary, Angelica, Alana, and Jenna. She enjoyed the love and devotion of her partner Mark Pacheco, his parents Ann and Bob Pacheco, and his sisters Lynn and Joy. She was an intimate and close relative to the family of Edwin and Deli Nava, as well as the extended Gonzales network of family and friends.
A vigil and rosary will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014, visitation starting at 5:00 p.m. and the prayer beginning at 6:30, at Holy Angels/Holy Sepulchre Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, CA. A Funeral Mass will follow Friday morning, July 25th at 9:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 37588 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA, with interment following afterwards at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA.
