Elizabeth J. Piper (Betty) May 17, 1927 - April 2, 2009 Resident of Oakland Betty Piper, born May 17, 1927 in Alameda, CA, passed from this life on April 2, 2009 in Camino, CA. Betty was a homemaker who practiced the attendant skills lovingly and with a degree of passion. She and her husband Art raised seven children in the home they built in Oakland. She supported St. Paschal Baylon, their parish church and school. After retirement, she was a member of the St. Patrick's Ladies' Society and a participant in TOPS for 21 years. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Arthur E. Piper, Sr. married May 23, 1948; her son Arthur E. Piper, Jr.; her parents Archibald B. Bowles, and Mary Ellen Donovan Bowles; her brothers Alvin Bowles and Archie Bowles; and her sisters Margaret Tymn and Catherine Swanson. She is survived by her sons Richard (Kathy) Piper, Carl (Heather) Piper, Tom (Colleen) Piper; her daughters Margaret (Joe) Choy, Janet Garratt, Teresa Piper; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Placerville. There will be a rosary service at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life and then a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Luncheon will follow the Mass at the parish hall. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre cemetery on April 16, 2009 at 11 a.m., 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94543. Remembrances can be made to Snowline Hospice, 6520 Pleasant Valley Rd., Placerville, CA 95667. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home.
