Mary Jane Cox Young Resident of Oakland Mary Jane Cox Young was born on July 2, 1925 in Appleton City, MO. She was the second daughter born to the late Bernice Burdett Cox and Leora Irene Cornelius Yost Cox. She graduated from C.C. Hubbard High in Sedalia, MO. and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO as well as Denver University. On May 1, 1954 Mary Jane married Leonard C. Young in Oakland, CA. To this union one child was born, Robert Eugene Young. She was a medical secretary for 24 ½ years with the Arlington Medical Group. Mary Jane was a member of Taylor Memorial Methodist Church, Oakland, CA. As a breast cancer survivor she freely gave of her time by volunteering with the 's 'Reach To Recovery' program. She was also a member of the Eastbay Genealogical Society and held many awards and achievements from the Boy Scouts of America as a Den Mother and Trainer. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leora Cox; her father, Bernice Cox; her brother, Bernice Cox, Jr.; her husband, Leonard Young; and her sisters, Marleeta Parks and Irene Jefferson. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Robert Young and daughter-in law, Sylvia Young; her brother, Donald Cox; her grandchildren, Brandyne Coleman, Alifia Young, Nicholas Young and Melinda Suttice; a host of nieces and nephews and other beloved relatives and dear friends.
