Obituary Condolences

Attilio J. Dezzani Jan. 30, 1920 - Apr. 24, 2010 Lifelong Resident of Oakland Attilio "Til" Dezzani passed away on April 24th after a long illness. He was 90 years of age. He was the loving son of the late John and Rose Dezzani. Survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie Dezzani, his loving son, Dr. Raymond Dezzani and wife Jacklinn; daughter Anne Galli; sister Eda Damele (late Ben Damele); grandchildren Anthony, Elizabeth, and Christina (Galli). Dear brother-in-law of Catherine Long (late Ronald Long); Bernard Ratto (Tina Ratto); and the late John and Josephine Ratto. Leaves many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He will be greatly missed. Attilio served in World War II from 1942 - 1945 in the USAF United Airlines ATC Group. Stationed in Alaska and the Pacific. He graduated from Boeing School of Aeronautics in 1940. He went to work for United Airlines after the war and started as a lead mechanic and was part of the first group United trained for teaching of their own mechanic's and later worked with many other airlines. Attilio ended his service of United Airlines after almost 40 years where he had been a maintenance instructor. After retiring, he volunteered at the Western Air and Space Museum at the Oakland Airport. He was in charge of Restoration of the Airplanes. Attilio enjoyed working in his garden, travels with Marie, music, reading, airplanes, and was a history buff. Worked in various capacities in his 58 years at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. The family also wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Bellaken Garden and Skilled Nursing Center for their compassionate care of their loved one. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Attilio's name to The "Air Force Association" or "Air Memorial" Att: Air Force Association, 1501 Lee Highway Arlington VA 22209, or to a charity of your choice. Vigil service to be held on Wednesday April 28, at 7:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 6:30 pm at St. Lawrence O'Toole/St. Cyril Church 3725 High St. Oakland Ca 94619. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 29, at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence O'Toole/St. Cyril Church. Interment following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
