Robert "Bob" Terrance Beam July 13, 1930 - Apr. 24, 2010 Former Resident of Hayward Robert "Bob" Terrance Beam died peacefully on the morning of April 24, 2010 in Oakland, CA. He had been living with his oldest son, Mark for the past five months. He was born on July 13, 1930 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Terrance Hugh Beam and Willa Ragsdale Beam. Bob is survived by his five children: Mark of Oakland, CA (Elizabeth), Michael of Minden, NV (Debbie), Teo of Sahuarita, AZ (Sherri), Maria of Fremont, CA, and Myles of Keams Canyon, AZ (Erica). Bob adored all of his grandchildren, the nine living are: James, Preston, Alexander, Melynda, Kiana, Jazzlyn, Logan, Ayden and Myles. He is preceded in death by Mark Andrew in 1998 (son of Mark) and Candice Marie in 2007 (daughter of Michael and Debbie). He was also preceded in death by his magnificicent wife of 55 years, Lupe in January 2009. Bob graduated from Tulsa Central High in 1949. He served in the Navy on the USS Yancey and the USS Platte during the Korean War. He was very proud of his service to his country. Following in his father's footsteps, Bob joined the Cement Mason & Plasterers Union where he worked for 63 years between Local 594 in Oakland, CA and the International in Washington D.C. He was extremely dedicated and devoted to his work, especially as an International Officer and Executive Vice President. Robert fought hard for the rights and recognition of all working peoples, resulting in enormous respect from all that knew him. A memorial gathering in honor of Robert T. Beam will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, 11am - 3pm at the Odd Fellows Lodge #231 1329 Hays Street San Leandro, CA. In lieu of flowers, one may make a donation in Robert's name to the California Veteran's, Project Gold Star www.cdva.ca.gov.
