Ernest Benjamin Jaramillo

Resident of Hayward
Ernest Benjamin Jaramillo passed away on Thursday morning from pancreatic cancer. Ernest was born in Brighton, CO and moved to California in 1946. He graduated from San Leandro High School, and then served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, including a tour of duty in Korea. Ernest then earned a B.A. and M.A. in Education from CSU, San Francisco. He served the San Lorenzo Unified School District for 35 years as a teacher and school administrator. Ernest was very active in his community and church and was ordained a Deacon in October 2000 for the Diocese of Oakland. He served Saint Joachim's Catholic Church in Hayward. Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 57 years; devoted children Kathleen Drennon of San Leandro, Mark of Riverside, Jane of Hayward and Brian of Riverside; and ten grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to a Vigil service on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 7:00pm, with visitation to begin at 6:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 21250 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward, CA. The burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward with a reception at the church hall.
