Lorraine E. Battistini
May 12, 1920~Mar. 21, 2012
Resident of San Leandro
Lorraine E. Battistini, 91, passed away on March 21, 2012. She was born in Oakland, CA, to Florence Cunha Conde and John Conde. She met Raymond A. Battistini in South Lake Tahoe at the Bijou Beach and Lodge and they were later married on May 8, 1942, in Reno, Nevada. Lorraine lived in Oakland with relatives while her husband was off to war and shortly after his return in 1945 they moved to San Leandro where they made their home. Lorraine lost her beloved husband in 1986 and remained in their family home until 2005 when she moved to assisted living in Villa San Ramon, later moving to Emertus assisted living in Tracy to be closer to her son Jeffrey and his wife Patti.
In the early years Lorraine and Ray spent many enjoyable weekends at Boulder Creek with family and friends and water skiing at Kings Beach in North Lake Tahoe. She enjoyed gardening, music, and loved to dance. She and Ray often traveled to Lake Tahoe or Reno to do a little gambling.
She is survived by her sister, Florence Santucci of Carmichael; her son, Jeffrey Battistini of Tracy; her daughter, Deborah Culbertson of Alamo; granddaughters Jenna, Gabriel and Nichole; grandsons Sean and Adam; great granddaughters Tate and Taylor; great grandsons, Ethan, Tucker, Conor, Dylan, Cole and Luke, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine will be dearly missed by all.
A funeral service to honor Lorraine's life will be held on Thursday, March 29, at 12noon at the Holy Angels Funeral Center Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at 1051 Harder Road in Hayward, CA.
