Ann Marie Brooks passed away peacefully at the age of 94 following a brief illness. Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Jim, her sisters, Minnie Rego, and Mary Esteves and her brothers, Casmiro August, Lucian August and Herman August. She is survived by her devoted children, Jim Brooks (Margaret) and Sandy Lemmon (Gil), her grandchildren, Timothy McBride (Katie) and Sean McBride (Jessica), step-grandchildren, Nancy Lemmon, Chrissy Lemmon (Soria) and Jenna Lemmon, sisters-in-law, Evelyn August, Teresa August and several nieces and nephews. Ann was born to James and Candida August on July 8, 1918 and grew up in Fremont, California. She graduated from Washington H.S. in 1936. Following high school she graduated from Mary's Help Hospital in San Francisco and began her career as a registered nurse. She entered into active duty with the US Navy in 1944 and served through 1946. Later she was employed by Eden Hospital in Castro Valley. Ann enjoyed traveling, reading, walking, sports and being around her family and friends. She resided at the Casa Sandoval Retirement Center in Hayward for the last eight years where she met many new friends. She participated in many of the activities and especially enjoyed bingo games and musical events. Ann lived a long, happy, healthy life and will be remembered and missed by many. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at Holy Angels Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward on Tuesday Nov. 13, 2012 at 11:00am.
