Cheryl Anne Popoca Yurgelevic

Obituary Condolences

Cheryl Anne Popoca Yurgelevic Nov. 12, 1951 - Dec. 27, 2012 Resident of Hayward Born in San Leandro, CA, Cheryl passed away after a lengthy illness, at home in Hayward, in the presence of her daughter, two days after Christmas. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Nears, her granddaughter, Dominique Hayes, her twin great grandsons, Freddy and Kaiden Hendrix, her two brothers, Ty (Lauren Larson) Yurgelevic and Chuck (Charlotte) Yurgelevic and her sister Jo Anne Casey (Jim). Cheryl will be remembered as fun loving, a character to all who knew her and unafraid to make bold decisions throughout her life. After working seventeen years for Southern Pacific Railroad, Cheryl became a collector of the unusual, made her own jewelry and could always be seen at flea markets and garage sales. Late in life, she became an avid fan of the internet, including Facebook. She loved watching sports on TV, especially NBA basketball. She left us far too soon and will be missed by her friends and family. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial at the receiving chapel in the new mausoleum at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Hayward at 10:00am Jan. 24, 2013. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to JoAnne Casey, 1285 Thiel Road Hayward, CA 94544 to help offset funeral expenses.
