Bradley Sundeen Obituary

Brad Sundeen July 26, 1954 - May 22, 2013 Formerly of Castro Valley Bradley James Sundeen was born on July 26 1954 in Oakland, CA, and passed away on May 22 2013 in RedBluff, CA. He is survived by his son Dakin Michael Sundeen, of Oakland, CA and sisters: Melissa Robison (RedBluff CA), Ronnie Videll (Gardnerville, NV) Connie Sundeen (Carson City, NV) and Sandra Sundeen (Redbluff, CA). He is also survived by 3 nephews, 2 nieces, and countless friends. He worked as a Ranger and Sign Maker for East Bay Regional Park District for 26 years, following a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors. He also served in the district's fire department for many years, participating in the Oakland Hills fire of 1991. Upon retirement Brad went back to school earning a Bachelors in Art with Honors from Chico State in 2009. Mr. Sundeen was very active in his local Sierra Club, participating in fights to save Alameda Creek, Walpert Ridge and countless other pieces of open space for future generations. While many of his friends and family knew him as Brad, he was also Lord Donalon Seamus O'Carrol, a member of the Highlander Warriors Living History group, and a Knight of the order of the Red Dragon. This "old Castro Valley boy" also entertained many of his friends and family with his exceptional artistic ability, silly sense of humor, and near encyclopedic knowledge. A memorial service will be held on Sat., June 8th at Willow Picnic area in Lake Chabot Park at 12:00 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear hawaiian shirts or Renaissance Faire regalia.

It's been five years, and I think about you every day. I remember you dragging me on so many endless hikes and hating it, and now I wish we could go on one more.

I'm so sorry to hear of Brad' s passing. It's been 30 years, but I remember him as a very nice guy that worked at Garin Park.

Brad worked under my father (Jim stabler) in the late 1970s for the EBRPD at Garin Regional Park in the Hayward hills. Brad was a great friend at that point in my life and was like the older brother that I never had. I could talk to and confide in him, even though he was much older. I am very sad to stumble on this, it is quite a shock as he was relatively young and was such and strong and awesome person. I have likley not seen him in 30 years but he made an indelible impression on me and am better person for knowing him way back then....

Brad (Donalan) and Richard (Diarmid) in awesome pose.

Beautiful, sweet, loving Brad, I can't believe you are gone so soon. I know you are fine now, gamboling about in the clouds above, free from suffering and earthly worries, but my heart still breaks. I will always love you.

I've spent these past couple of weeks trying to think of something nice to say about Brad, but then it dawned on me that I didn't really know him but I wish I would have. I never realized how much we had in common..love of history, Yosemite, and environmental issues and I wish we could have talked more about life in general. But anyway I hope that you are happy wherever your wandering soul takes you in heaven....may the Yosemite there be as beautiful as it is down here. I will always love you Uncle Brad...I miss you

Memories of Brad go hand in hand with memories of laughter.
His unique gift was to bring this about with so little effort. I'm so moved by his passing.. a true "brother in comedy", gone forever .. so strange to associate Brad with sadness.
