Minister Sterling Jenkins, III July 9, 1952 - June 6, 2013 Resident of Oakland Passed away in Oakland, CA, on June 6, 2013. Sterling was born in New Orleans, LA. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. He served with honor in the U.S. Army, founded God Seed Ministry, and fed the hungry through Grace Baptist Church of Oakland, where he was a minister. He was also a foot soldier in the original Black Panther Party. Sterling leaves to cherish his memory parents Sterling Jenkins, Jr. Helen M. Hopkins; partner Michele Baker; daughters Alexandra Jenkins, Cynthia Jenkins; grandson Carlos Jenkins-Jones; granddaughter Elnora Jenkins; sisters Cynthia Phillips, Yvonne Jenkins, Angela Westbrooks, Maxine Jurand; brothers Michael Jenkins, Kenneth Hopkins, Daryl Jenkins, Gregory Greenup, Terrance McKeever, Edward Jenkins. Visitation is on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m, at Colonial Chapel, 2626 High St, Oakland. Funeral services are on Wed., June 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Baptist Church, 705 - 98th Ave, Oakland.
