Josiah "Joe" Powell
Powell, 76, was a lifelong Oakland resident and son of Josiah and Margaret Powell. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-1959. He then worked 30 years at the Alameda Naval Air Station as a jet engine mechanic.
A longtime daily caregiver of elderly brothers Joe also was devoted to his sisters. He enjoyed travels to Australia and Great Britain, annual family trips to Tahoe and Sea Ranch and pub time abroad and at home. He was an avid "junker" and inveterate collector. Joe also enjoyed trips to Reno and Tahoe to try his luck.
Predeceased by his parents, brothers Harry, Wes and Dave. He is survived by sisters Ann Rossman (Merle), Flo Rice (Warren) and Rose Kelly & nieces and nephews. Military burial will be at the veteran's cemetery in Dixon.
