Louis Rienhart Hansen|
Resident of Castro Valley
Louis (Lou) Hansen went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, November 29, 2013. He was surrounded by his family when he peacefully reunited with Joy, his wife of 66 years.
Lou was a graduate of Hayward High School where he played football position right guard for the Hayward Raiders, "Class of 42." Lou spent many summers living and working at Yosemite National Park, his favorite place to be.
Lou served with the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Italy during World War II. After the war, Lou became a Deputy Sheriff with the Alameda County Sheriff's Department, where he was employed for 27 years. Lou was a member on the Sheriff's Department Special Response Unit (SRU) and his dream assignment as a Crew Chief at "The Farm" at Santa Rita Jail. Lou kept in contact with all of his comrades after retirement in 1979. Lou loved to fish and spend time with family and friends. He also enjoyed trying his luck against the "One Armed Bandits" at Harvey's, Lake Tahoe. He blessed his daughter, Tami and son in law Tom, when he came to live with them a year and a half ago at their restful river home property in El Dorado.
Lou, "Sweet Lou" to his family and friends was an incredible man, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and exceptional friend.
Lou is survived by his daughter Tamara Wilson, Son in law Tom Wilson, Son Bruce Hansen, Granddaughters Amber Tuhacek, Candice Tuhacek and Cassandra Harvie-Harden, Grandson Brandon Burnette and Great Grandchildren Joshua Casqueira, Jacob Hill, Alexis Stewart, Gabriella Stewart, and Kendra Harvie.
