Lewis Roy Mahlmann died March 18, 2014 at the age of 86. He was born in Chicago, IL on Sept. 6, 1927 to Leroy and Geneva Mahlmann. He attended John Steinmetz High School, The University of Illinois, and the University of San Francisco. He served in the U.S. Navy during the last part of WWII, bringing him to the Bay Area in the mid 40s where he decided to live. As director of the puppet theater in Children's Fairyland in Oakland, CA for 40 years, he became a well-known artist, performer, and teacher of puppetry. He is survived by his cousin, Laurane Postle of Disney, OK and his partner in puppetry and life, David Cadwalader Jones of Oakland, CA.
