Obituary Condolences

SMITH HIGGINS Late of Millbrae and San Mateo County resident for 61 years entered into rest in Burlingame on November 1, 2006. Beloved husband of the late Ann Higgins, married for 30 years. Dear brother of Pastor George Higgins (his wife Fannie); and Betty Ruth Bailey all of Jonesborough, Tennessee; his twin sisters: Dorris Jones (her husband Jim) of Watkensville, Georgia and Dixie Lee Killen of Erwin, Tennessee; Loving uncle of Carolyn Schultz of Cupertino, California; and Gary Anderson of Roseville, California. Also survived by his loving friend Norma Johnson of Millbrae, California. Born in Erwin, Tennessee and oldest of 11 children, he attended Tusculum College, Greenville, Tennessee. All through High School and College he excelled in Sports. Upon Graduation from College he immediately joined the Navy. Returning after the war and unable to find suitable employment in his home town he came to San Francisco. Later attended San Francisco State and received his Teacher's Credentials. He taught school in Pacifica for 20 years which he dearly loved. After retirement he enjoyed the game of golf, writing poetry and composing songs. He was a very loving and generous person and will be missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church, 401 Santa Lucia Avenue in Millbrae. Inurnment will take place in Erwin, Tennessee.
