Wendy Linatoc Obituary

Mrs. Wendy Ann Linatoc, age 50, of Rome, Ga. passed away on Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, at a local hospital.
Wendy was born in West Branch on May 19, 1963, daughter of Richard B. Wight and Joan Jachalke Wight. She grew up in Whittemore, graduating from Whittemore-Prescott High School in 1981 where she excelled in sports and graduated as both president and valedictorian of her class.
She served as president of the local Future Farmers of America chapter and was very active in 4-H, often earning grand champion blue ribbons. Upon graduation, Wendy pursued her bachelor's degree in Physical Education and also served as the first woman commander of the Michigan State University ROTC unit.
Following her graduation from MSU, Wendy served her country in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. She served in the Gulf War and was honorably discharged in January of 2000, having attained the rank of major. During her period of service, Wendy continued her education graduating with her master's of physical therapy degree from Baylor University.
Wendy married John Linatoc on June 24, 1989, in Rome, Ga., and continued her career of physical therapy through several organizations including Floyd Medical Center, Floyd Home Health Care, and Northwest Georgia HealthCare. She helped establish the physical therapy program at Floyd Junior College and served as its first director.
Wendy was a sports and outdoor enthusiast. She loved to travel, hike, fish, hunt and camp with her family. She participated in many running activities and events. She most recently served as the St. Mary's School cross country coach.
Wendy is survived by her husband John Linatoc, DMD; sons, Austin and Anthony; parents, Richard and Joan Wight, of Prescott and Zephyrhills, Fla.; sisters, Rhoda Clark, and her husband, Nick, Holly Wight, and Renee Wirtz, and her husband, Don, all of Michigan; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews along with hundreds of friends around the globe.
A rosary service for Wendy Linatoc will be led by Deacon Stuart Neslin at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, July 15 at 6 p.m. in the Church.
The funeral mass for Wendy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 11 a.m., led by Father Patrick Kingery, assisted by Deacon Stuart Neslin. Following the funeral mass there will be a reception for friends and family in the church's Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rome YMCA or to the athletic department at St. Mary's School in Rome. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and Crematory, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I'll always remember her animated personality and her wonderful laugh. I can imagine her and Carla, strolling through heaven, exploring and enjoying all of the wonderous sights! My heart goes out to her family and friends, and I pray they find comfort in knowing they will see her again someday.
