Edwards, Harold Earnest
Harold Earnest Edwards, age 93, born March 3, 1923, passed away June 19, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Virginia Mary; and dear father of the late William Gorde, Susan (Dan) Dlouhy, Marilyn (Tim) Vorce, Nancy Edwards, James Edwards and Thomas (Wendy) Edwards. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Harold was a resident of East Tawas and Sterling Heights. He served in both the U.S. Navy and the Army, first training to be a Navy pilot, and later at his best in the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One). He was awarded the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars with World War II service culminating in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked 35 years with GM's Fisher Body Division. He was a part time resident of East Tawas and Oscoda. He danced the night away with the love of his life, Virginia. They graced the dance floor of the Holland Hotel, AuSable Inn, Greenbush Tavern and the (then) Holiday Inn. They frequented G's Pizza, Audra's Restaurant, Genii's, The Turkey Roost and Marions. They enjoyed bonfires on the beach at Ausable Point, evening strolls on the East Tawas State Dock and fishing at the Oscoda pier. Dad introduced the family to the area, creating memories of lifetime.
