Allen Charles Anschuetz, age 83, a lifelong resident of Tawas City died peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Iosco Medical Care Facility in Tawas Township.
He was born the son of Andrew and Esther (nee Anderson) Anschuetz on Aug. 10, 1930 at his home in Tawas City where he was raised. Allen graduated from Tawas City High School in 1948.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict
from 1952-1954, he stood as a National Honor Guard at the Arlington National Cemetery and walked in the Inaugural parade with President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
He had worked for the road commission for 40 years and retired in 1992. He also worked for Century 21 Real Estate in Tawas City and for the family business, which was Anschuetz Memorials.
Allen married his best friend, Marlene M. Nienaber, on June 9, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Auburn and together they shared 58 years of marriage and raised their beautiful daughter, Debbie. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church as well as an elder for the church and was the trustee on the Baldwin Township Board.
Allen loved spending time at the family cabin and enjoyed hunting and playing cards especially euchre, his best of memories are with his family and the memories shared at the cabin.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; and his beloved daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Jim O'Farrell of Oscoda; and his nieces and nephews, Dale and Julie Humbert, Denny and Linda Cholger, Carol and Lynn Thompson, Diane and George Lahner, Jerry and Melissa Cholger and Karen and Terry Jorgensen. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Inez Humbert and Margaret Cholger.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 3 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City followed by interment in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church in Tawas City. Condolences maybe shared at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
