David Ellis Martin, age 74, of Mikado passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at his home.
He was born to Eli and Maisy Martin (nee Lovelace) on May 19, 1939 in Trenton. David moved to Oscoda when he was a teenager and graduated from Oscoda High School on June 6, 1957.
He married Nancy Adamson in 1977 and they later moved to Mikado in 1985. Dave was a lifelong builder. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, furniture making and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Wendy; granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie; sister, Pearl Tanner of Harrisville; brother, James Martin of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by three brothers, Russel, Kenneth and Daniel; and three sisters, Jean Door, Lois Robinson and Evelyn Ibbs.
A memorial service will be held at the Mikado American Legion Hall on Sunday, March 2 at 2 p.m. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Michigan and condolences may be offered at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com.
