Donald Allen Jones, age 85, of Tawas City, a former resident of Detroit, died at his home on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013.
He was born the son of Leslie L. and Pearl (nee Dilworth) Jones on July 31, 1927, in Detroit. Donald worked for Detroit Diesel as a job setter for 30 years before retiring in October 1981.
Donald served our country during the Korean Conflict
before being honorably discharged.
He loved the outdoors and all it offered. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and fast cars. He loved life and lived it to the fullest; he was a "true character."
Donald is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Ernestine M. Jones of Tawas City; and his special nieces and nephews, Nancy A. Gruber of East Tawas, Kathryn L. and her husband, James Skrocki, of Garden City, Timothy G. and his wife, Gail, of Tawas City and Michael J. Lambert of Ontario, Canada; and many numerous great- and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon L. Jones; and his sister, Patricia P. Lambert.
