"Big Jim," otherwise known as James E. Alexander of Oscoda, died Aug. 14, 2013 in Tawas City.
He was born to Robert and Mary (nee Willing) Alexander on April 19, 1917 in Saginaw. He married Elizabeth Eurich in 1937 and she predeceased him in 1994. He retired from General Motors
many more years ago than he worked for them.
He is survived by one brother, Thomas of Mackinaw City, and one sister, Agnes Carmody of Owosso.
He had four children: James (Nancy) of Oscoda, who was his great caretaker, Gerald (Sheila) of Saginaw and Lorna (Robert) of St. Charles. His youngest daughter, Jean Ann Richardson, predeceased him in 1972.
At 96, he had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Jim loved to hunt and fish and his family has no doubt he is enjoying that now or telling everyone how to do things. The world will be a little quieter without "Big Jim" around, but his stories and his smile will be missed and all the wild game and fish will be safer.
Per his request, he has been cremated. No funeral services are scheduled. Memorial contributions are suggested to the giver's local animal shelter.
